2020 Senior Spotlight: Terrence Booth Jr.

Due to the current coronavirus situation and all sports being shut down, there are a lot of athletes who have had their senior seasons cut short. ENC Sports Review thought it would be nice to highlight some of these seniors as a small way to celebrate their senior year, since so much has been taken from them already. Today, we will highlight Northern Nash High School Senior Terrance Booth Jr. We thank Terrance for taking the time to sit down with ENC Sports Review and answer these questions for us. We had fun learning more about him and hope you will too!

How long have you been playing sports?

I’ve been playing sports since i was 7 or 8 but organized since 8th grade.

What teams have you been on? (This can be rec ball, middle school and high school)

It’s been Northern Nash High School for track and basketball. We didn’t have a middle school track team , but I did play a year of rec basketball in 8th grade and played again my 10th grade year , I played AAU my junior year for the SouthSide ballers, I played basketball for Northern Nash that I attended for all 4 Years of High School and the same for track and I ran cross country for 2 Years.

Who has been your favorite coach and what did he or she teach you that you carry with you through today?

I’ve had a lot of coaches and some good ones too but my favorite would be my father and he taught me that you can achieve anything or be anything you want as long as you put in the work.

What is your favorite memory and least favorite memory of playing sports?

My favorite memory would be winning the state championship my junior year in the 110 meter high hurdles. My least favorite memory would probably be indoor states this year, or the indoor conference championship this year.

What is one thing or event that if you could do over again you would change?

Preparation and body health going into the 2020 indoor state championship meet.

Who is someone you look up to and why?

I look up to Grant Holloway, and his will to be great and the amount of work he puts in, it’s no days off with him and does all that he can to perfect his event.

If you could go back 5 years and tell yourself something then that you know now what would it be?

I would tell myself to run AAU Track and Play AAU Basketball when High school had started, but more importantly to stay on top of my work and take AP Courses Sooner.

What is something you would tell someone trying to follow in your footsteps?

Be You

Pray

Outwork Everyone

Never Give Up.

If you have played your last high school game, what is something that you will remember for the rest of your life?

Winning the State Championship and being recruited by 15 Division 1 Programs those were both true blessings. I have committed to run track for ECU in the fall.

Feel free to add anything that I might not have asked that people would like to know about your time playing sports or your future plans.

Why Did You Start Playing Sports Or Why Did You Work So Hard to Get where you are today?

I started playing sports because I loved to workout and be active at a young age and my freshman year of high school I told myself that I was going to go to a Division 1 Program and that I am going to be a Professional Athlete. Rather it was playing basketball, running track, or even playing football. I wanted to make money doing something I loved while making a name for myself and I wanted to give back everything that my parents had given me if possible and more.

How Do Your Friends and Family Play Apart into all of this ?

They play a major part in this, I mean they pushed me and told me I was going to be great and that they had my back. I remember in elementary and middle school me and the bro’s used to talk about what we were going to do when we got older and some of /a lot of us are doing that or making those dreams come true, and my family , they have been supportive 100% they be trying to boost my head up sometimes lol but they’ve been great.

Thank you again, Terrence Booth Jr. , for taking the time to be one of our 2020 senior spotlights. We wish you well on all of your future endeavors.

I cover area high school sports in eastern North Carolina. I also will give my opinion on other sports such as NFL, NHL, MLB, and NASCAR. I'm married and I have a wife who loves sports and supports my writing.
