For the first time since 2002, Northern Nash has made it to the 3A NCHSAA State Championship game. They will be taking on the Western Regional Champions, East Lincoln. East Lincoln and Northern Nash come into the state championship game with the same undefeated record of 15-0.
For Northern Nash, they have been led by their senior quarterback Keno Jones and he has 2,660 yards and 38 touchdowns on the season. They also rely heavily on running the ball and Dywhaun Mitchell has carried the ball for 929 yards and 10 touchdowns. Keno also has 14 rushing touchdowns as well this season.

Their road to the championship went through the competitive Big East conference. In the playoffs, they beat North Jacksonville, Southern Nash, Southern Durham, Triton and Seventy First.
For East Lincoln, their story is much of the same. They have a senior quarterback led by Tyler Mizzell that has 2533 yards and 35 touchdowns. On running the ball, East Lincoln has a sophomore, Christopher Daley II, who has rushed for 1671 yards and 20 touchdowns.
For East Lincoln, they made it to the state championship game by being undefeated in the regular season and then advanced in the playoffs by defeating Ashe County, Tuscola, Ledford, Kings Mountain and South Point.
For both teams, the goal is simply to finish what they started in August. For one of the teams, this will become a reality on Saturday night and for the other, they will just miss their goal of being the state champion.
